IoT SE Chips

SE, abbreviated from "secure element," is also known as a secure chip. SE consists of hardware and software portions: the security hardware includes the secure operating environment, security memory, security algorithm, security interfaces, etc., while the security software provides a secure interaction mechanism to ensure the security of command and data interaction between the SE and the host computer and implement security functions, such as processing, computing, and storing data securely, based on the SE to achieve identity authentication, encryption for data transmission, and protection of sensitive information.


Supporting both international algorithms (RSA\ECC\DES\3DES\AES\SHA-n) and China cryptogram algorithms (SM1\SM2\SM3\SM4\SM9), the SE has passed security qualifications of EAL4+, China Cryptogram Certification Level 2, etc.


Security problems in the Internet of Things (IoT) are becoming more conspicuous along with the rapid development of the IoT. As a significant cornerstone of the development of the IoT industry, the IoT security has requirements in the following four aspects: 1. unique device identification; 2. bi-directional identity authentication between the device and the cloud; 3. encrypted data transmission; and 4. remote OTA security upgrade. Based on its secure storage and secure operating environment, the SE may provide a secure root of trust for operators of IoT devices; the operators of IoT devices may issue a device ID and certificate key in the SE, which may make a complete IoT security solution together with the secure cloud, so as to implement credible identity authentication, reliable communication encryption, anti-data tampering, and anti-repudiation to safeguard the business development of the operator of IoT devices.
HED has built rich experience in secure IoT applications on the basis of its SE products widely used in a range of fields, including smart household appliance, smart metering, smart door lock, and the Internet of Vehicles. HED’s SE products have been connected to multiple public cloud IoT platforms and operator IoT platforms, and have completed joint debugging with multiple mainstream IoT Wi-Fi modules and NB modules.
